Media Ketboard
Simple and straightforward to use, no problems with set-up
Wish it had hot-keys to mimic the PS3 joypad (page back, page forward, zoom etc.) as this would make it perfect. As it is have to use the 2 devices side by side for easiest results.
Good for $50, not $75…
Look, I’ve gotten adddicted to those slim key, scissor key type keyboards. Although the keys are indeed slim, you have to depress them quite a bit more than a scissor-switch type. But hey, it does look cool.
Very lightweight, non-offensive grey and black, but feels a bit cheap. I use this for gaming on a PC because of the built in touchpad and the left and right click button under the pad. Good set up. Wish the pad were a bit bigger but not a big deal. Really wishh the left and right click buutton were bigger but again, I’ve learned to adapt to them (and besides, my hands are small, so it’s probably more comfortable for me than a person with huge hands). Definitely not a confort keyboard for excessive typing but a good gaming keyboard. So far no problems with stickey keys! Takes two AA batteries and you turn on the keyboard with a little switch on the front upper right corner. (I use Energizer rechargeables).
$50 is a good price. I originally saw this in WalMart for $75 but that’s a bit steep so this is a good deal on amazon (under $50).
Cordless, awesome. Batteries? Not so awesome.
I hook up my laptop to my Television. It’s great to be able to watch a movie without having to get up and adjust settings if ever that were the case.
The only qualm I have about this product is that it runs on batteries that are not rechargeable. =/, it is not environmentally friendly and a bit ’90s really. Was under the impression that this may have been Bluetooth. For the price I think that it should have been.
Overall though, the touchpad was a nice addition. It’s lightweight, and the USB sensor can be used for anything that has a USB port– not just the PS3. I like it, but Bluetooth is still the way to go.
Inconvenient
I was tired of trying to type out long browser addresses in my PS3’s web browser so I decided a keyboard might make everything better. So I impulsively ordered this without really thinking. It’s kind of weird that it needs the USB instead of just working with PS3’s inner bluetooth… like everyone has mentioned. And the lack of some appropriate PS3 buttons they could have added to the board would be nice too. But more importantly… it’s awkward. If you don’t have a coffee table that you are sitting up and typing on it’s just about worthless to get this for convenience - since it isn’t at all convenient. Stick with your controller and learn to speed text…
SUCKED BAD!!!DON’T WASTE THE MONEY!!!
I bought this keyboard thinking it would be the best thing ever. I got it…plugged it in… and turned my system on. It sucks. It works as a keyboard I suppose. I would rather use my controller. In fact I find that I have to. Since the keyboard doesn’t have the buttons on it. I have to hit X on the controller and then use the keyboard to scroll through the menus to have to hit X again. Or Triangle….or whatever key you need. To download stuff in the Playstation Store you have to hit “Start” to continue the download. Start isn’t on the keyboard. Once again you have to use the controller. I find myself Switching so much that it is too much of a hassle to try and use the keyboard. It uses 2 AA batteries… so that means it will eat batteries and have to replace them. For a no frills. No features keyboard….$80 dollars is a steep price. I don’t care how much you payed for it. It just isn’t worth the money. It is more of a hassle than what it helps. Typing is easier if you can ever find a game or function to use it. The internet is even a pain because of how slow it is. Compared to Firefox. There seems to be no reason to buy this keyboard. Bottom line… don’t by this keyboard. Hopefully a better featured keyboard comes out soon that features the controller buttons on it. Its not like this one didn’t have the room to put them on there.
