Brother MFC-465cn Color Inkjet Multi-Function Center 
I love it! Unbelievably easy to set up, and I would have had it set up in minutes if they had included the USB and/or Ethernet cords, they cheaped out on that. So, I had to stop, go out and purchase a cord, and then went back to setting it up. It was so easy, I thought I’d missed something. I had it connected to one desktop and two laptops in less than 10 minutes. It was such fun to sit in the living room on my laptop and print wirelessly to my office for the first time! I also like the fax function. It feeds all the pages into the memory first and then calls the other fax. Such an improvement over my HP which I would have to feed one sheet at a time although it was supposed to feed. It would either feed multiple pages at once or not grab the next page, and most of the time if I had numerous pages, it would disconnect and I would have to call back multiple times to get all the pages through, and when it fed the pages though, the tray the pages were returned to was fashioned in such a way that it would mangle my original documents. I also like the feature where you can set the Brother to manual for faxing, and use only one line for voice, voicemail and fax. When someone calls with a fax, I can pick up the phone, hear the fax tone and hit *51 and it starts receiving the fax. I always know when I am getting a fax so this is a great feature for me. The Brother is attractive, quiet, and I find the print quality quite acceptable. I couldn’t be happier! Especially for the price!
Mac user recommends MFC-465CN
After reading up on all the all-in-one printers available for $100-$300, I purchased this printer for $89.99 in April of 2008 to use on a network, primarily with Macs. I have it networked through a Cradlepoint MBR-1000 EVDO router.
I’m about a month into use with the printer and am pretty pleased. For $90 (including ink), it was a real bargain for what it’s capable of. That, and generic replacement ink is dirt cheap.
PRINTING
I haven’t printed any photos yet, but my day-to-day printing has been of reasonably good quality. At first, the blacks weren’t as black as I’d like, but I think it’s gotten better with continued use. Paper tray could be bigger and easier to access, but I don’t hate it.
COPYING
Auto-Feeder isn’t bad. Only holds ten pages. But it’s a low-priced printer with an auto-feeder, so I’m not going to complain. Flatbed is big enough for letter, but not legal. Ok.
SCANNING
I am using OS X Tiger (10.4) and have no problems scanning when connected by USB or through the network. It works well, and I’m pleased with the results. Custom scan settings are fairly simple to set up through the “Brother ControlCenter” on my desktop, too.
I read complaints about scanning being a problem on OS X Leopard. I can’t speak to this, but know that Brother has posted drivers/updates for Leopard on their site to address this. Leopard users, are you up and running as of yet?
NETWORKING
Networking this thing wasn’t as easy as it should have been. That’s the main reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five. It took me an entirely uninterrupted half day to network this thing the way I wanted - it wasn’t self-explanatory. Be prepared to understand your router, network, IP addresses, DHCP servers, whatever other networking stuff that isn’t entirely self-evident. I eventually figured it out without contacting customer service, and I’m no IT guy. So yes, this thing CAN be networked, and yes, it CAN be networked with a Mac. Once you get the networking up and running, it’s a pretty nice thing.

IN CONCLUSION
I like this printer, and it does what I need for a low price. At this point (one month in), I would recommend this printer. Beware the difficulty factor in networking, but know that it can be done.
Great all-in-one.
This is a great printer/fax/scanner/copier for the home or home office. The print quality is great, and everything was very simple to set up. The paper tray is relatively small, holding only 100 pages at a time. But you’d need to print a lot of pages for that to be a major concern. Outstanding all-in-one for the price!

Brother MFC-465CN
Our purchase on 04/08/2008 was well worth it. It has a real fax machine unlike so many of them that can’t run without the computer or won’t send multiple pages. This is the first color copier we ever had before that makes high quality copies fast without the computer running. We can flat bed scan to a file, image, email, or some other software. It prints in very fine detail and will print photos too. It will even print on envelopes if you are clever with the paper tray. We use the Network printer drivers, but the USB cable worked if it is less than six feet. I was a little worried about the warning that too long a USB cable is forbidden. What is against the Brother MFC-465CN is that it has no Windows 98 or ME drivers at all. We can’t even get just the printer function of the MFC-465CN to work on the Network. Windows XP does the printing for us now. It should work with Vista, Mac, or Linux. What caused me to think it worked with Windows 98SE was lack of information was on the box about the operating systems? Worse was the Brother web site said their MFC-4650 did come with Windows 98SE and ME drivers. The Brother MFC-4650 printer is a very different printer with very different ink cartridges. We will be keeping this Multi Function Center anyway and our old color printer too.
