Measuring 2.7 x 1.0 x 0.9 inches and weighing a mere 0.3 ounces, you’ll barely know that the Discovery 925 is in your ear. But with its striking onyx-black and silver color combination and minimalist features, this one-of-a-kind earpiece will surely get you noticed–in a good way. (The earpiece is also available in alchemy-gold and cerise-pink).
The Discovery 925 is designed to follow the contours of your cheek. It features a filtered glass bead that’s been blasted and anodized for a ceramic high-gloss elegant finish. The ultra-lightweight design offers a secure comfortable fit so you can stay connected hands-free for hours. And the earpiece includes three uniquely shaped gel eartips–small, medium and large–that are designed to conform snugly to the contours of your ear without the need for an earloop stabilizer, so nothing will interfere with earrings or eyewear.
Once you place the earpiece into your ear, making calls is as simple as it gets. It has a multi-function button on the diamond-shaped face that powers the device, dials or releases calls, triggers voice dialing, or kicks the earpiece into pairing mode. A second button lets you control the volume. For voice clarity, a 1.9-inch boom brings the microphone closer to your mouth to reduce background noise as you talk. The boom mic also houses the earpiece’s antenna. And finally, a micro-USB port is located on the side of the earpiece for charging.
AudioIQ Noise Control and On-the-Go Charging
The Discovery 925 features AudioIQ technology that blocks out annoying background noise in most situations, giving you clear calls every time. The earpiece lets you roam up to 33 feet from your Bluetooth phone and it supports multipoint technology, which allows two Bluetooth devices to be paired to the earpiece. This means you can receive and make calls from two of your phones without having to switch earpieces.
The Discovery 925 runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery that gives you up to five hours of talk time and up to seven days of standby time from a single charge. And when the earpiece is not in use, you can store it in its unique color-coordinated case, which performs double duty with its sturdy but stylish construction and its integrated rechargeable battery. Not only will the case protect the earpiece from everyday hazards, but it will also keep your earpiece charged. Simply charge the case directly with the included AC charger or USB cable–with or without the earpiece in place–and when fully charged, it will have enough power provide your earpiece up to five hours of talk time for when you need it.
Of course you can still charge the ear piece directly with the AC charger, but with this convenient recharging case, you don’t have to worry about your earpiece running out of power while you’re on the go. Just place your earpiece in the case, and safely store it in your handbag or briefcase. When you’re ready to use it again, it will be fully charged with enough power for up to five hours of talk time.
The Discovery 925 is backed by a Plantronics 1-year limited warranty.

Customer reviews
Ear Irritation .. Auditorium Effect .. Wind Noise .. No Mute …
NOTE: This review, in it’s entirety, reflects my opinion after trying every possible way to “accept and use” this product over the past few weeks prior to sending it back for a REFUND .. Frankly, I do not understand the rave reviews since my experience was so dramatically different from the 4-5 star reviewers who initially influenced my decision to purchase it .. FYI, I’m typically a huge Plantronics fan who often recommends their products to family/friends and the Discovery 925 was bought as a replacement to a Plantronics Voyager 510 (which is an awesome earpiece, but had connectivity dropping problems with my new mobile phone, a S/E K850i) — Well, although the 925 solved the connectivity problem, that was it’s ONLY REDEEMING QUALITY.
Here are the problems I encountered with this product:
1. FIT (Major Problem)
—EAR IRRITATION - the ear “fitting piece” (i.e. which is placed over the earpiece speaker) RUBS AGAINST YOUR INSIDE EAR whenever you place or move it in your ear .. Eventually, the intermittent continual “rubbing” will cause some irritation
—INCONVENIENCE - when changing from one ear to the other ear you have to first turn the “fitting piece” ~180 degrees and it does not turn very easily since there is friction from having to rotate over the earpiece speaker
—POSITIONING - the earpiece does not reliably stay in position once it’s “set” which results in MOVING or READJUSTING IT thereby causing MORE RUBBING against your inside ear
2. Auditorium Effect (Minor Problem) — ~30% of the time it had this effect which was annoying, but not prohibitive
3. Wind Noise (Major/Minor Problem) — when outside, the slightest wind would result in a disproportionate level of wind noise
4. No Mute (Minor Problem) — even though this one is self explanatory, I do not understand why they would leave out this feature
Caveat Emptor!
My first non “loop” earpiece I have kept
I have been through several of the Plantronics 510 Voyager headsets, not by choice, but because I misplace them - and they are still a great value for the price. I have been through a lot of other non “loop” earpieces by choice, because I feel like I am placing a metal Q-Tip in my ear.
This one is much more comfortable, and does not sit so tightly in the ear. It’s very light and I have no complaints with the fit and feel. There are three ear piece sizes to choose from. I went with the small for a while, then settled on the medium.
The cons I have is the same as one other reviewer - wind noise. You can’t use this outside if the wind is even at 5mph. One other con I have is sometimes I get a strange “robotic” sounding voice, but it corrects fairly quickly. One last nit pick, I’d like to be able to get the voice a little louder, but I think that is more on my phone. However, the 510 was louder.
Overall, very happy with it and would recommend it.
Great, but voice dialing doesn’t work with Blackberry 8310
Elegant, and seems to work well, and my callers say the in-car noise suppression works so well they didn’t think I was in the car. But, I have not been able to get the 925 to work with the voice-dialing/command feature of my Blackberry 8310. Nothing at all seems to get recognized, regardless of whether it is in a noisy environment or a quiet office. The 2 other Bluetooth headsets I have tried (Blueant Z9 and an older $30 Motorola folding headset) work perfectly with this feature, as do my wired Plantronics headsets with noise suppression. So I am hoping Plantronics support can come up with a fix, since California requires hands free (which I assume means voice dialing as well) effective July 1.
The Blueant Z9 doesn’t have as good voice quality (my brother said it ensures short conversations from my car) and people say it can be very loud on the receiving end, so that’s not the ideal solution either.
Amazing
Lives up to the hype - the volume is amazing with my iPhone. At times, the max volume on the headset is so loud it’s painful. I’ve never had to turn down the volume on my cell phone before! If you drive a mid-size SUV like I do, believe me when I say this headset is the cure for road noise.
It’s been a while since I’ve used a Bluetooth headset and my ear is a little sore from it. It’s very light and comfortable but without any over-the-ear support, all the weight is on the inside of your ear. However, one of the major benefits of this is you can put the headset on in a flash. It’s easier/quicker to answer a call with the headset than with the iPhone.
I docked the headset 1 star for a few reasons:
1. The eartips are very fragile. Be careful! I was extremely cautious (I just spent a lot of money on the thing) and I still managed to rip the small eartip while putting it on the headset. I had previously reinstalled the medium eartip and had a feeling the small would rip so I was careful and, well, it was just too fragile and ripped.
2. The accessories are not available yet. No car charger and no USB lanyard even though they have part numbers and are listed in the manual.
3. No way to buy replacement eartips (yet?).
Wind Noise Galore!
The design is attractive and the fit is comfortable. The sound quality indoors or in a car is solid. But…
I walk a tremendous amount in New York City and the slightest breeze causes so much feedback it is unusuable outdoors if there is any wind.
While the audio output was quite good, people conversing with me complained there was too much background noise to understand me properly even when the wind was minimal.
I would not buy it if outdoor use is a requirement.
