Excellent Product
This is an excellent product. We originally purchased an 80 GB Zune and were not even able to download the software needed to use it. After 30 days and many frustrating hours, we returned it and purchased the 80 GB iPod Classic. From unopened box to music — 10 minutes. It is very easy to use and we have had absolutely no problems with it. My husband takes it on business trips and uses it with a clock radio/alarm docking station at home. I personally have the old school 1 GB Shuffle but have to admit having the menu features and ability to scroll through albums and songs is a really nice feature.
Great for on the go
I’m at college frequently and sometimes I have several hours between classes. This is perfect for those times when nobody is around to talk to and you need some long term, or short term entertainment. The screen is a little small, but its not painful to watch. With an 80gb capacity, I managed to cram 600 hours of video onto this little guy, which will give you about 300 movies, or 800+ tv show episodes. You can cram probably double the amount of music on here if you don’t care about top audio quality (as if you can get it through the regular ear buds anyways). The games are excellent, especially tetris, which has kept me addicted for many hours. You can listen to and skip through music while you play your games as well. It is the absolute best investment if you frequently travel or have a lot of downtime on the go, especially if you don’t have the space for larger electronics like a laptop. I do not recommend using the itunes store for anything but games, however, as many of their products still come with DRM that will only allow you to play it on the ipod and your PC, which means when you want to buy a new player, you are out of luck. Also, I would grab a case, because this thing will get scrached quickly if you don’t wrap it up. I recommend a silicon skin case. The 5.5G 30GB iPod cases fit decently if you can’t find a cheap iPod Classic case.
Bought iPod Classic 80G mainly for music
This is my first iPod and I am really amaged with my first experience with this highly successful & top rated product. I could add my entire 30 GB collection of mp3 music with all mp3 meta info (such as author, album, and art work). The display is very clear and unlike my other mp3 player (30 Gig Creative Zen which dis not display art work), it imported album art images from hard disk folders and displaying with fantastic colors and contrast when playing. Now I have more space, I added my entire collection of family digital photos. As a bonus it allows me to use it’s huge remaining space as a storage to keep all my documents and excel sheets. With all these, it still is a thin and beautiful device. I missed this until now and unnecessarily struggled with other mp3 players.
Quite happy…
Better than the 5G
No outstanding improvements from the 5 and 5.5G but still an excellent purchase. I did notice it seems to process faster and the battery lasts longer. I wish I could be more specific but I don’t normally watch videos or movies on my iPod so I don’t have a very good estimate. The CoverFlow is ok but most of my album covers were missing and I haven’t figured out the rhyme or reason behind that. With the new Apple merchandise, iTouch, iPhone, $235 is a very reasonable price for this, so if you don’t have to have the absolute latest in technology this is definitely worth the purchase.
I love it
This is my first MP3 player, but I must say that I love it. I have had no problems with it so far. The 80-gig model, the one I have, is more than enough for my whole library of music. I only wish that I could shuffle songs in a playlist, but que sera.
